The church family
at the United Methodist Church in Shelbina seeks to nurture all ages
from the tiniest infant to the most elderly. The members here extend
a warm welcome to any who will come and share in God's love. This
love and concern reaches out to an extended family who may be as close
as next door or at some distant point around the world. The following
is a brief outline of the activities that take place as the church
family joins together to worship, learn, fellowship and serve as a
witness to the love of God.
Worship
Worship is central
to the life of the United Methodist Church in Shelbina. Each Sunday
morning a traditional service begins at 10:00 A.M. This includes congregational
hymns, special music, reading of Scripture, time with children, prayer
and preaching of God's word.
In addition,
special services are planned to celebrate and observe the seasons
of the church year such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter and Pentecost.
The worship committee
is also looking at other ways to experience praise and worship that
might add depth and richness to the spiritual life of members.
Traditionally
this church has been a participant in the Union Services held in the
community for the World Day of Prayer, Thanksgiving and Holy Week
and supports the Shelbina Ministerial Alliance in benevolent service.

We proclaim
Jesus, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that
we may present everyone perfect in Christ. To this end I labor, struggling
with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.
